What We Believe

The following are the core beliefs of First Lutheran Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible.
All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these Biblical doctrines.

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.  And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.  From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.  We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

我信上帝，全能的父， 創造天地的主。我信我主耶穌基督，上帝的獨生子；我們的主；因著聖靈成孕，從童女馬利亞所生；在本丟彼拉多手下遇難，被釘在十字架上，死了，葬了；下到地獄；第三天從死人里復活；後升天，坐在無所不能的父上帝的右邊；將來必從那裏降臨，審判活人，死人。我信聖靈；一聖基督教會，聖徒一體；罪得赦免；肉身復活；並且永生。

We believe the Bible is God's Word and it is inerrant (everything it says is true without error).

我信聖經是上帝的話，是無誤的。

We believe God accepts us and loves us through faith, for the sake of Jesus Christ who suffered, died, and rose from the dead.

我信藉基督耶穌的受苦，死亡，從死裏復活；上帝在信心中接納和愛我。

We believe in God's transformative power in changing people's lives and bringing us to Christ through His Word as well as through Baptism and the Lord's Supper.

我信上帝改做的能力會改變人的生命，用祂的話語、聖餐和聖洗禮帶領我們歸向耶穌。
